CEZANNE

(Cezanne, Paul). CEZANNE. Preface by Octave Mirbeau. Bernheim-Jeune, Paris, 1914. Number 15 of the edition of 100 on Japan paper, of a total edition of 600 copies. Folio, cloth-backed boards, 75pp. text in French, original etched frontispiece by Cezanne (Paysage a Auvers), five original lithographs by Edouard Vuillard, Pierre Bonnard, Maurice Denis, Henri Matisse, and Ker-Xavier Roussel, after works by Cezanne, and 53 additonal plates reproducing works by Cezanne (the plates are numbered I - LIX, and include the original works). Few copies of this book have survived intact because the Cezanne etching and the lithographs by the extraordinary group of collaborators are often removed and sold separately. Minimal soiling and wear to the corners, else a Fine copy of a scarce and important early monograph.
